Job Title: Junior Software Developer

Contract Type: 3-year contract

Location: MERTIS Tech Hub, Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland (Minimum 8 days per month in office required)

Salary: €30,000 - €35,000 per annum

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexible schedule

Annual Leave: Up to 35 days annual leave in year 1, rising to 40 days in subsequent years (20 days base leave plus additional 5 days based on quarterly targets)



About the Role:


We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Software Developer to join our team located in MERTIS, a tech hub in Naas, Co.Kildare, housing a variety of innovative tech companies. This role is a fantastic opportunity for new graduates looking to embark on their career in software development.


As a Junior Software Developer, you will be primarily focusing on the frontend development (JavaScript, CSS, HTML) of our Python Django projects. You will have the opportunity to work with technologies such as Co-Pilot and ChatGPT. Even though the role is frontend focused, we will provide comprehensive training on both frontend, backend, and database development. 


The role also involves communicating directly with clients/end users, so excellent communication skills are necessary.



Key Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debugging.
  2. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  3. Use version control systems such as Git efficiently.
  4. Interface with clients and gather feedback to inform the development process.
  5. Learn and work on all aspects of our projects, including backend and database development.
  6. Perform tests to optimize performance.



Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  2. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is required.
  3. Familiarity with Git and Co-Pilot is a plus.
  4. Basic understanding of Python and Django is a plus.
  5. Strong problem-solving skills.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment or individually.
  8. Willingness to learn new programming languages and technologies.
  9. Experience with databases is a plus.
  10. Must be currently legally entitled to live and work in Ireland.
